How much are used skis worth?

The one rule of thumb behind every used price on Edge Lab, what it can’t tell you, and how you can make it better.

The rule of thumb

Estimated

Roughly half of RRP

As a rule of thumb, used skis sell for roughly half of the original RRP.

Condition and age move it: excellent toward more, worn toward less.

On each model’s page we show the maker’s RRP for the year you pick, with where we read it and when, and the rule in words. We don’t turn it into a percentage band or a price.

Where the rule comes from

It is our own editorial rule of thumb, not a dataset. We don’t publish a percentage range or anyone else’s per-model prices. The one number we do show is the maker’s RRP, from the maker’s page. Where an RRP comes from a retailer instead, the page says “RRP not confirmed by the maker” and shows no figure. When prices people tell us are enough to stand on, they will replace the rule.

What it doesn’t know

  • Condition. Excellent sells toward more, worn toward less. We don’t publish condition multipliers because we have no data for them yet.

  • Age. Prices don’t yet adjust for age. The model year you pick only changes the RRP we start from.

  • Bindings. Some used skis are sold with bindings, some without. It moves the price.

  • Country. A ski costs different amounts in different places. Australian prices come in through the form below.

What we don’t do

  • No eBay data, in the rule of thumb or anywhere else.

  • No marketplace scraping. We don’t read prices from Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, Reddit or forums.

  • No one else’s valuations. We don’t copy price guides or blue books.

  • No offers. The estimate is a rule of thumb. We don’t sell used skis and it never changes with a commission.

Help make it Australian

Bought or sold used skis? Every model’s used page has an I paid / I soldform: price, currency, year, length, condition, bindings, country and date. No name and no email. A person checks each one before it counts, and nothing shows until it’s checked.
