2027 Volkl Mantra 88 - SkiEssentials Ski Test Review

      SkiEssentials · 17 Aug 2026 · 177 cm tested

The Völkl Mantra 88 returns structurally unchanged for 2027, featuring its tailored titanel frame, 3D radius sidecut, and carbon tips. Testers note that it is an exacting, directional, and damp carver that excels on firm snow and through crud. It requires an active, technically proficient skier to unlock its potential, as it can feel demanding and less forgiving off-piste or when skied lazily.

2026 Volkl Mantra 88 - SkiEssentials Ski Test Review

      SkiEssentials · 12 Aug 2025 · 177 cm tested

      Reviewed as the 2026 model.

The Völkl Mantra 88 receives the redesigned construction from the M7, featuring a flatter profile, 3D Radius sidecut, Tailored Titanal Frame, and tailored carbon tips. It offers exceptional edge grip and high-speed stability on groomed slopes and firm snow, while maintaining good chop busting ability. Due to its precise, businesslike nature and relatively heavy build, it demands effort and skill from the pilot rather than delivering effortless playfulness.

    • 2026 Volkl Mantra 88 Ski Review

      Bob St.Pierre · 21 May 2025 · 184 cm tested

The redesigned 2026 model features an updated titanal frame and carbon tip alongside a flatter profile with a three-dimensional sidecut. It provides formidable edge hold, stability at speed, and high-performance carving on groomed trails and hardpack. However, the stiff build demands active driving and can feel harsh or deflected in hard moguls and tight trees, making it best suited for advanced skiers who prefer velocity over playful forgiveness.

“delivering massive edge grip and rugged performance.” (Bob St.Pierre)

      2025 Volkl Mantra 88 - SkiEssentials.com Ski Test Review

      SkiEssentials · 17 Sept 2024 · 184 cm tested

      Reviewed as the 2025 model.

The Völkl Mantra 88 replaces the Kendo 88 with an unchanged structure for 2025. It features a tailored Titanal frame, beech and poplar core, and carbon tips. It is a stiff, heavy, and very stable ski tailored towards frontside carving and hard groomers, best suited for advanced and expert skiers. Its 3D Radius sidecut allows versatility in turn shapes, though softer snow and bumps require more active driver effort.
