How we estimate flex, camber, rocker and mount point

Skis come with published width, radius and weight. Makers do not publish how stiff a ski is underfoot, how high its camber is, how tall its rocker is or where the boot sits. So for those four, Edge Lab starts from four teaching skis: a carver (72 mm waist), an all-mountain ski (89 mm), a freerider (104 mm) and a powder ski (116 mm). A ski’s numbers are those teaching skis blended by its waist, at the length nearest 175 cm: a 96 mm ski gets half of the all-mountain numbers and half of the freerider ones.

Every such number is marked “est.” on the ski page and points here as its source. Where a maker does print one (Atomic prints its rocker split), we use the maker’s figure and link their page. They are estimates, not measurements, and we replace them by hand when we have a real one.
